Poppy – A 10 year old black Crossbreed who was savagely beaten up prior to coming to Tailends. She is very loving with those she trusts but has severe personality disorders. |

Denise - is a 10yr old brindle greyhound who arrived here on September 29th 2007. She has been used for breeding in Ireland until recently when she failed to get pregnant after being put to stud. Her owner was going to kill her as she was no longer any use to him, so we had to act quickly to get her brought to Tailends in order to save her life. She is in urgent need of a dental with several very loose teeth and a smelly mouth. |

Wilfred is a delightful small black lurcher boy who is aged about 12 years. He came to Tailends on 13th July 2008 from a dog pound near Cardiff after being picked up by the dog warden as a stray. He has settled in very well and is such a sweet affectionate lad. He needs to put some weight on as he was very thin when he arrived. He also had a bald patch on his rear from a flea allergy which has now been treated. |

Cindy came to Tailends on
16th July 2008 from Anglesey where she had been abandoned at
the dog pound. She was undernourished and in poor health having been kept outside by her owner. She has now put on 2 kg in weight and is enjoying herself in spite of the diagnosis of cancer following the removal of a massive tumour in August. We hope it will remain in remission for as long as possible. |

T
odd is a 13 year old sandy coloured longhaired lurcher who has spent his entire life in an outdoor kennel with other dogs who were used for hunting. He had become unable to keep up with the other dogs and could not cope with a working life anymore. He has never lived indoors or owned a collar but now he is enjoying all the home comforts we can provide. |

E
vie is an older greyhound bitch who has been used for racing in Yorkshire in her younger days. Since her racing career ended she has been kept in a shed on an allotment with a number of other greyhounds until recently when her owner died and all the dogs were taken in by Tia greyhound rescue in Halifax. Evie was very nervous and cringed in her bed at the back of the kennel. Tailends agreed to take her and on Sunday 17th May she arrived after being transported by Debra, Nina, Elaine, Lynda and Ronnie. |

Nancy is an elderly lurcher girl who arrived at Tailends on 21.07.09 after being picked up as a stray by the dog warden in the northwest of England and taken to the pound for her statutory 7 days. She had obviously been neglected and was emaciated, full of fleas and had a nasty mammary tumour and a bad eye condition. She is such a sweet affectionate girl who has responded very quickly to the care and treatment given at Tailends. We can only hope that she will make a full recovery once the tumour has been removed and she will enjoy many happy months with us. |

Nellie is an 11 year old lurcher cross who came to Tailends from a Northwest dogs home on 6th September 2009. She has heart problems and mammary tumours but she is happy enjoying her walks and cosy bed after the bleakness of kennel life. Nellie was desperately unhappy in kennels and refused to eat. She trembled all the time in the kennel. She has settled at Tailends very quickly though seems to be very chesty especially at night so is on a course of antibiotics. If there is no improvement she will have chest x-rays done next week. I do not think this little girl has ever had much in the way of walks or happiness in her previous life. |

Bertie - is a little old terrier who came from a dog pound in the northeast where he had been picked up as a stray. He has damaged hips resulting from a broken pelvis, cruciate damage and also problems with his spine. However he is doing very well and is happy and full of beans. He loves the other dogs but gets a bit over excited sometimes - probably die to the fact he had never had so much attention before. |

Alfonso - is a dear old galgo who we first heard about in March 2009 - soon after the death of our beloved Gloria. We flew him over from Paws Patas rescue in Almeria, Spain on November 20th 2009 when his pet passport formalities were completed. His legs have been badly damaged and he has 3 gun shot pellets embedded in his front leg where there is a lot of swelling. He will receive the very best care at Tailends where he is really enjoying himself. He is the most gorgeous old chap you could ever find. |
