Dogs Available For Sponsorship
You can help by sponsoring one of our dogs for a minimum of £15 (UK Residents) £16* (EU Non UK Residents) £17* (Rest of the World) per year. This could make the ideal present for someone who loves dogs and does not want/need a material gift for themselves. The recipient will receive a certificate with a photograph of their chosen dog, a summer update and a Christmas card. * The additional cost helps with the postage outside the UK.

Ben - is a very thin, little terrier cross aged 14 years who arrived here on 16 September 2006. Like Dudley, Ben came from Rochdale Dog Pound having previously been tied to a washing line in the garden by his owner. He was crawling with fleas and an allergy to this parasite has resulted in the loss of large areas of his coat. He had a tumour on one of his testicles, but has now been castrated so we are hoping for the best. He is a dear little boy who is somewhat disturbed so it may take some time for him to settle in his new home here. With lots of love and attention we shall do our best to make his golden years as happy as possible. |

Gloria – A Spanish Galgo who was rescued by Laura and brought to the UK by Greyhounds In Need. Laura had spent almost a year trying to pick her up from the streets in Andujar. She was eventually found almost frozen to death. Many Galgos are brutally killed when the hare hunting season is over. Gloria suffered dreadfully before being rescued. |

Judy - She's an elderly Labrador who has come from a grim situation in Huddersfield dog pound where she was very depressed. She is seriously overweight and has large callouses on her legs and sore patches on her tail. Her ears are very mucky but this should be dealt with quickly. It would seem that she has been kept outside in kennels during her life and has had little exercise, but she is now very appreciative of some home comforts. |

Poppy – A 10 year old black Crossbreed who was savagely beaten up prior to coming to Tailends. She is very loving with those she trusts but has severe personality disorders. |

Tweenie – A 14 year old Poodle who was formerly used for breeding in a puppy farm consisting of caravans crammed full of various breeds of dogs. |

Mollie - is here. She arrived on Tuesday 11th September at 7am after the long trip from Ireland. I had to put her straight into the bath as she was lying on a blanket soaked by her urine on the long journey to Bristol. She had ear mites, which I have treated quickly with canaural, and a deformed ear (due to an untreated haematoma) as well as being painfully thin and blind, possibly due to lack of treatment for diabetes by her previous owner. |

Denise - is a 10yr old brindle greyhound who arrived here on September 29th 2007. She has been used for breeding in Ireland until recently when she failed to get pregnant after being put to stud. Her owner was going to kill her as she was no longer any use to him, so we had to act quickly to get her brought to Tailends in order to save her life. She is in urgent need of a dental with several very loose teeth and a smelly mouth. |

Emma - arrived at Tailends from a dog pound in Shropshire on 8 February 2008. She is a white and brindle greyhound who is 12 years old. We know nothing of Emma’s past and how she has lived since racing or coursing or whether she has been used for breeding. She is a very affectionate girl who gets on very well with the other dogs here. She just loves having a nice comfortable bed to sleep on and tucks greedily into her food. She seems totally overwhelmed by the freedom and comfort she has here which will hopefully soon allow her to forget her past. |

Jack - is a 12 yr old white and fawn greyhound who arrived at Tailends on 10th Feb 2008 with his brother Freddie. He has lived his entire life in a Lancashire kennel with little comfort or health care. Jack has arthritis and partial paralysis of the vocal chords making him a bit wheezey. He is very affectionate and so grateful to be here. |

Wilfred is a delightful small black lurcher boy who is aged about 12 years. He came to Tailends on 13th July 2008 from a dog pound near Cardiff after being picked up by the dog warden as a stray. He has settled in very well and is such a sweet affectionate lad. He needs to put some weight on as he was very thin when he arrived. He also had a bald patch on his rear from a flea allergy which has now been treated. |

Cindy came to Tailends on
16th July 2008 from Anglesey where she had been abandoned at
the dog pound. She was undernourished and in poor health having been kept outside by her owner. She has now put on 2 kg in weight and is enjoying herself in spite of the diagnosis of cancer following the removal of a massive tumour in August. We hope it will remain in remission for as long as possible. |
